Wedding Planner: Smaller & Intimate Weddings

To begin with, recent events have taught us that life is too short and showed us the importance of recognizing the true value of our family and our closest friends. We want to focus on genuine interactions, create real experiences and moments that will last forever. We love small, intimate weddings for their unique character and custom-style. They create the opportunity for great memories with every single guest. TIPS FOR PLANNING A WEDDING WITH LITTLE TO NO TIME

TIPS FOR PLANNING A WEDDING WITH LITTLE TO NO TIME

TIPS FOR PLANNING A WEDDING WITH LITTLE TO NO TIME

Planning a wedding in a short notice of time can be very difficult, but most definitely possible. It takes patience and diligence to provide the best experience for not only the bride and groom, but for participating vendors as well.

FLEXIBILITY

A huge thing to take note of when planning a wedding in a short amount of time is to take an idea and run with it. You’ll notice that one idea will lead to another, and then shortly you will have planned a full wedding day.

OPEN-MINDED

Often times we have a bride who wants to plan a wedding exactly the way she sees on Pinterest. As most of us know, sometimes it is hard to recreate exactly what she saw on the app, but we do our best. Say she sees an organic wedding arch decked with greenery and draping. We all know that one leaf is different from the next, so when recreating a vision and you think something else will work better, then follow your gut and just do it.

POSITIVE

The best part about planning a wedding in short notice of time is seeing all of the amazing things that can transpire. We start to get creative, host a ceremony in a foreign building, make new connections with vendors we would have never met, and overall host a wonderful wedding. Stay positive, and know that you just have to keep moving.

THE WEDDING DRESS – SO MUCH MORE THAN A DRESS

THE WEDDING DRESS – SO MUCH MORE THAN A DRESS

THE WEDDING DRESS – SO MUCH MORE THAN A DRESS

It’s no secret that your wedding dress is possibly the highlight of your special day.  If you have been searching for your ultimate wedding dress, you will already know that there are literally thousands to choose from.

With so many to choose from it can be very difficult to decide on that one particular dress that says what you need it to. It must speak to you of the exact vision you have of how you want to look on the day.

Whether your budget is small or large, your ideal dress is still an investment in possibly the most important day of your life. And when you look back on your wedding album and relive some of those precious moments, you will know your dress was the one!

Each and every detail is crucial to create the exact image of how you want to look and to feel.  Everything matters. The fabric, the style, classically simple or over-the-top ornate. Whether there is any beading or lace or ruffles. Whether it is off the shoulder or has shoestring straps. Deep backed or high backed, figure hugging or with a full or trailing skirt. All these factors count when you make your final choice.

Think if your wedding is to be indoors or at a venue with smoother surfaces for you to walk on. Then an elaborate design will be much easier to wear and enjoy on the day.  The season may also need to be considered. Although not all brides care about the temperature if their dress is everything they have dreamed of!

We hope you thoroughly enjoy indulging yourself in the journey of choosing your perfect wedding dress! Especially picturing yourself as the bride that not only draws ‘Oohs and Ahhs’ from your guests, but one that you will remember with joy and a special sentimentality that only brides know.  Relax, take your time and have fun!

Your Ultimate Wedding-Planning CHECKLIST

Your Ultimate Wedding-Planning CHECKLIST

Your Ultimate Wedding-Planning CHECKLIST

So Much to Think About. So Little Time. That’s Where WE come In.

Congratulations! The love of your life has popped the question, and you’ve said yes. Now that you’re on the path to married bliss, it’s time to make the most of your engagement period.

We have a simple but effective checklist for you!

DRAFT YOUR GUEST LIST

If deciding who’s coming (and who isn’t) many wedding planners recommend scaling back and honing in on the people who really matter. Sabine, the owner of AEO suggests to look at extending invitations not as a social obligation, but as being surrounded by those you love and who love you.

FIND AND SECURE YOUR VENUES

Every wedding venue has its pluses and minuses, so find a spot that’s convenient, exciting, and cost-effective.

Also take into account its existing décor. “If you want a red, black, and chrome modern-art-inspired wedding, don’t pick a plantation home and waste money trying to reinvent it.

Once you love a venue, set a wedding date. Avoid holiday weekends. Travel is more expensive for guests, and you’ll pay staffers overtime for working a holiday.

A wedding planner can help find and negotiate with the other vendors you’ll want to start hiring now as well.

DEVISE A RECEPTION TIMELINE

Copy ours below, or create your own play-by-play to keep things moving smoothly.

00 Cocktail hour starts.

1:00 The couple enter and have their first dance.

1:30 At a sit-down dinner, the first course is served. The host and best man offer toasts.

2:30 The main course is served.

3:00 The newlyweds dance with their folks; guests join in.

3:50 The cake is cut.

4:00 Cake and dessert are served.

4:45  The bouquet is tossed.

5:00 The bride and groom depart.

START PACKING

Think like a Boy Scout, and be prepared. You’ll need all of the following gear on the big day.

You Should Bring

  • Your dress, shoes, undergarments, and jewelry
  • The groom’s and attendants’ gifts (if you didn’t give these tokens of appreciation the night before)
  • Your vows, if self-penned, and the wedding bands to hand off to the best man

Your MOH Should Bring

  • Ibuprofen
  • Bobby pins
  • A sewing kit
  • Earring backs
  • Buttons
  • Krazy glue
  • Deodorant
  • Baby powder
  • Stain remover

FINAL ARRANGEMENTS

Day-before tasks include everything from arranging tip envelopes (for certain vendors and waitstaff) to preparing snacks for the getting-ready rooms (unless they’ve been pre-ordered through your caterer).

To look your best on your special day, invest in a mani and pedi (you’ll need the break, we promise!), and after confirming times and addresses with your transportation (limo, etc.) service, head over to your rehearsal dinner and practice, practice, practice.

ENJOY IT

Your monumental day will go by so fast. Take care to stay in the moment.

First, stay close to your new spouse. “Try to stick together the entire reception,” says Kaforey. “Having shared moments of your wedding is so important to set off on your life as a couple.”

Also, don’t forget Dad. If you have a good relationship with your father, build a memory by having a moment with him after you’re dressed, Savage suggests. “It gets forgotten in the first look with the fiancé.” The same reasoning goes for mom, your sibling, or a grandparent.

Let’s Plan Your Big Day!

WHAT BEING A WEDDING PLANNER IS REALLY LIKE

WHAT BEING A WEDDING PLANNER IS REALLY LIKE

WHAT BEING A WEDDING PLANNER IS REALLY LIKE

Every year we receive hundreds of applications for internships from young women who want to become a wedding planner.

We also have learned through experience that we need to be really thorough with whom we choose for the internship mainly because young women have different views of what exactly is involved in being in the wedding and event industry.

We would like to give you our perspective on this field as so many of you want to learn what this industry is all about. We don’t plan on being too detailed but just enough information to know if you still want to follow this path or maybe this is not for you.

Wedding and event planning is a very detail-oriented—and sometimes emotionally intense—career choice. There are no industry-standard business hours. There are no holidays. We rarely have a free weekend. And we work when clients hire us to work.

As much as we would love to tell you that what you see in the movies about planning a big day for your clients, unfortunately this is not the case. This career, although extraordinarily fulfilling and satisfying in so many ways, is also a very stressful and exhausting business.

We are going to mention only a few general points that we have to always face when we deal with clients, potential clients and couples.

Random Calls and Emails

Although we love each and every one of our clients, there are some issues when it comes to what they think is an emergency 🙂

We are being called and emailed every single day from morning to the next morning and there is always something urgent that cannot be delayed … this is from our client’s perspective.

We do have a limit to our working hours but we do try to reassure them everything will be resolved in a timely manner.

Working Long Hours

Avalon Events is not just another wedding planning company. We are based in Monaco and we provide our clients the most luxurious experience of their life. Whether its a wedding, a party or a corporate event, we make sure that everything runs smoothly and without any issues.

In order for us to provide top tiered events, we must work extra, that also includes working late at night and getting up really really early. We never complain about this but we are exhausted.

Keeping Everything on Hand

Sometimes, planners even need to have a back-up plan for some of the bride’s planning decisions. We have to always be the reasonable ones before and on the big day. We cannot let our emotions, or the bride’s emotion get in the way of decision making, so as planners, we need to be very realistic and on point.

Being the Bad Guy

Wedding planners are used to being the “bad guy.” From harassing a rental company until they go back and get the correct chairs the bride ordered, to having to enforce whatever rules the bride and groom want to be observed on their big day (no pics at the wedding, no social media posting, etc.) this is essentially what we have to always do!

So what is your opinion after reading this? Still interested? Let us know.
